Emails to the sent items folder of a Shared Mailbox

When an user comes to you and tells you, his email that is sent from a Shared Mailbox comes in the their personal sent items folder.


By default, mails that is send from a Shared Mailbox comes in the senders Sent Items folder. You need to enable some objects with PowerShell to enable this. Open PowerShell and run the following commands.

Get-Mailbox -Identity smb@domain.com | Select-Object MessageCopyForSendOnBehalfEnabled,MessageCopyForSentAsEnabled

With this command you will see that both objects are on $false. We need to set them on $true.

Set-Mailbox -Identity smb@domain.com -MessageCopyForSendOnBehalfEnabled $true -MessageCopyForSentAsEnabled $true

If you want to turn this on on all Shared Mailboxes.

Get-Mailbox -RecipientTypeDetails SharedMailbox | Where-Object{$_.messagecopyforsentasenabled -eq ""} | Set-Mailbox -MessageCopyForSendOnBehalfEnabled $true -MessageCopyForSentAsEnabled $true
